Review

Useful book giving a range of tips for lathework and general metalwork. Some of the tips are rather specialised (e.g. how to make special nuts, or rubber belt splicing) and are unlikely to be of much use. The book is not such a mine of information as Sparey’s The Amateur’s Lathe, however, there is much useful stuff in it. The design for a cross-drilling jig is worth considering. Designs for surface guage and rule holder are also included, although I doubt many amateurs will be moved to make these items when they are available so cheaply.

Overall, some good stuff, but not an essential book.
