Review
These two volumes are probably the definitive work on making small scale, scratch built model cars. The models described are about 15 inches long and are static models, made mainly from metal. The models are in a league above re-worked plastic model kits. The standard of models achieved by Mr Wingrove will be an inspiration to many.
These books are full of useful information and ideas on the techniques behind all parts of the car, from wheels and tyres to bodywork and trim. Many of the techniques could be applied to a variety of modelling subjects apart from cars.
Volume 2 is effectively a re-write of Volume 1, albeit with different models. Although it has more detail, there is not a great deal more information in Vol 2. You could buy one or the other volume and still have about as much information as you need, but the books are a such a pleasure to read that most people will want both.
