On this site you will find:

  • Specifications and details of my 1/5 scale R/C car models
  • My range of miniature I/C engine designs
  • My range of workshop tooling designed to improve workshop production
  • Product and book reviews, relevant to model engineering
  • Details of my publications and articles, as and when these appear.

Please scroll through the tabs to find details for all the models.  Drawings, construction notes and selected components will be made available over time, as detailed in the pages for each model.  If you are interested in anything specific, please contact me.

About me

In professional life, I am a naval architect with over 17 years’ experience delivering high-value naval projects.  I am a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Association for Project Management.

I started building radio controlled model boats whilst still at school, graduating to aeroplanes soon after, when I published my design for a 113″ wing-span radio controlled power-glider in Radio Controlled Models and Electronics (RCM&E) magazine.  The vast majority of my model are my own designs.

My activities are now focused on designing and building fully-working large scale R/C model cars and I have built up my machine shop facilities to support this, producing a range of workshop tooling designed to make production faster and more efficient.

I am proficient at a wide range of modelling techniques including GRP moulding, lathe and milling machine work, brazing and painting.  I am also a formally-trained carpenter.

I have published articles in RCM&E, Model Engineer and Model Engineer’s Workshop magazines and exhibited several models at the Bristol Model Engineering Exhibition.
